Semifinal round 3 | Recital
This concert is a carte blanche.
The semifinalists will curate a recital around a theme of their own choosing – a program that reflects their interests and reveals what moves them musically, socially, or personally. The concert can be seen as a personal calling card, an artistic statement, or a snapshot of their current artistic thinking.
Participants have stylistic freedom in designing their programs, and the competition’s pianists are at their disposal. In addition to pieces for solo violin or violin and piano, other performers may be included; however, these must be organized and financed by the participants themselves.
A movement from a string quartet by Joseph Haydn, selected by the competition, is a mandatory part of the program. The sheet music will be distributed after the announcement of the semifinalists; all participants will have the same amount of preparation time. For the performance of this movement, the semifinalists will perform together with members of the Kuss Quartet - Jana Kuss, William Coleman, and Mikayel Hakhnazaryan - and will take on the first violin part.
In addition to the musical program, a short written explanation (600–900 characters, including spaces) must be submitted, suitable for publication in the program booklet. The program and text must be received by the competition office no later than July 5, 2027.
(The total duration of the recital must not exceed 70 minutes.)
