Portrait G. Henle Publishing House

The world's largest and most important Urtext catalogue of music from the Baroque to the 20th century.

Founded by Günter Henle in 1948, G. Henle Publishers has been synonymous with enduring sheet music editions of the highest scholarly and aesthetic quality for over 75 years. The focus is on the classical repertoire for piano solo, strings and chamber music.

Henle's constantly expanding Urtext catalogue, which always reflects the latest scholarly research, comprises well over 1,200 titles (from Froberger to Prokofiev), and includes the essential violin repertoire (solo, duo, chamber music, concertos) from Albinoni to Ysaÿe. Recently, important violin teaching works have also been added to the programme, such as the 42 Etudes for Violin solo by Kreutzer or the 24 Caprices for Violin solo by Rode.

For almost ten years, G. Henle Publishers has also been successfully publishing its editions in digital format in the Henle Library app. The app now contains the entire Henle Urtext catalogue. Thus, the musical text can be accessed on tablets, together with many unique digital features.

For the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition, in addition to the Henle Urtext Prize of €2,000, G. Henle Publishers is also offering non-cash prizes in the form of credit vouchers for the Henle Library app worth a total of €1,750.
