Application rules 2027
Please read all the rules and guidelines carefully before applying, and pay special attention to the video recording requirements before you start recording your videos.
The Joseph Joachim Violin Competition is pleased to announce the 13th edition of the competition, which will take place from September 20 to October 2, 2027. The competition is held every three years and is organized by the Stiftung Niedersachsen.
Applications can be submitted from January 1 to March 31, 2027, exclusively via the website www.muvac.com.

Egilibility
Violinists of all nationalities born between October 3, 1994, and September 20, 2009 (aged 18 to 32 by the end of the competition) are eligible to apply for the 2027 competition.
Previous first-prize winners of the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition are not eligible to apply.

All applications are due by 11:59 p.m. CET on Wednesday, March 31, 2027. No late applications will be accepted.
Incomplete applications may be rejected.
Confirmation of receipt of complete applications will be sent by email by April 15, 2027.
All applications will be reviewed and treated confidentially. The Joseph Joachim Violin Competition reserves the right to request additional information from or about an applicant.
All applicants should retain copies of their submitted applications. The Joseph Joachim Violin Competition will accept no responsibility for applications that are not received.

Video recording requirements
The video must be filmed without any post-production editing of the video or audio and must run continously from beginning to end during each piece.
IMPORTANT: So that we can see that the videos were recorded in one take and were not edited afterward, place a clock (on your cell phone or similar device) where it can be seen and let the timer run during the recording.
For example, you can use apps such as “AtomUhr” (iOS) or “AtomicClock” (Android), or visit https://uhr.ptb.de/ (no installation required).

We do not expect a professional-quality video, but we strongly urge you to ensure the best audio and video quality possible.

Please label the videos as follows:

Application fee
All applicants must submit a non-refundable application fee of 110 EUR, payable upon submission of the application to www.muvac.com.

Next, go to the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition profile on MUVAC (possible as of January 1, 2027), enter all the required information, upload your audition videos and other required documents, pay the application fee, and answer all the questions.
