FAQ for applicants and participants 2027

Applications can be submitted online starting January 1, 2027, via the website www.muvac.com. The application deadline is March 31, 2027.

Yes. A non-refundable application fee of 110 EUR is due upon submission of the application, payable at www.muvac.com when submitting the application.

Yes. The video must not be edited between movements; it must be recorded in one take and therefore resembles a concert setting.

Yes, both movements must be recorded in a single take without a pause. The video must not be edited between phrases, so it resembles a concert setting.

Yes. The videos must be filmed without any post-production editing of the video or audio, and must run continuously from start to finish for each piece.

IMPORTANT: So that we can see that the videos were recorded in one take and were not edited afterward, place a clock (on your cell phone or similar device) where it can be seen and let the timer run during the recording.  

For example, you can use apps such as “AtomUhr” (iOS) or “AtomicClock” (Android), or visit https://uhr.ptb.de/ (no installation required).

Please submit a maximum of two videos (1 by Ysaÿe, 1 by Schubert) and upload them to your Muvac profile. For more information on application videos, please see the 2027 application rules.

The commissioned work will be sent digitally on July 1, 2027.
 

The program must be submitted no later than July 1, 2027, along with an explanation suitable for publication in the program booklet (600-900 characters). 

Further information will be sent personally to the participants.

Please play the repetitions as you would play on stage in concert.

All participants are free to choose whether to use sheet music or play by heart.

Acoustic rehearsal: The acoustic rehearsal (solo) in the concert hall lasts 20 minutes.

Preliminary Round 1 (Violin and Piano): There is one rehearsal with the pianist in one of the rehearsal rooms.

Preliminary Round 2 (Solo Violin): Rehearsal rooms are available at the University of Music, Theater, and Media. They are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Semifinal 1 (Commissioned work): 25-minute run-through (solo)

Semifinal 2 (Chamber concert): 90-minute rehearsal, 45-minute run-through

Semifinal 3 (Recital): 60 minutes of quartet rehearsal only, plus a 60-minute dress rehearsal for the recital. Both rehearsals will take place in a rehearsal room.

Final: On September 30, 2027, and October 1, 2027, a 70-minute rehearsal with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra on each day.

Yes, rehearsal rooms are available at the University of Music, Theater, and Media. They will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting September 17, 2027.

All participants must register in person on September 17, 2027, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the competition office at the University of Music, Drama, and Media in Hanover (Neues Haus 1, 30157 Hanover, Germany). 
Registration will take place in alphabetical order. 

After registration, participants may attend an acoustic rehearsal in the concert hall.

The performance order will be determined by a random drawing during registration on September 17, 2027. The drawing will be conducted in alphabetical order. Participants must appear in person at the competition office and, after registering there, draw their personal start number. This will determine the performance order.

All participants can stay with host families in Hannover free of charge from September 16 to October 3, 2027, subject to availability. 

Upon request, the organizing team can arrange hotel accommodations for participants and accompanying persons; however, participants are responsible for covering the costs themselves.

All participants are eligible for a travel expense allowance. Reimbursement will be provided upon presentation of travel documents in Hanover. The reimbursement amount is equal to the cost of the least expensive flight or train connection between the departure point and Hanover and back, as determined in Germany on June 15, 2027.

In accordance with our sustainability policy, we do not reimburse costs for flights within Germany, unless they are connecting flights.
